SPRING SNOWFLAKE | Filip Holič

SPRING SNOWFLAKE

When their elongated leaves and a fragile, white bell-shaped flower sprout from the cold earth, it is a sign that spring is approaching. The famous locality where thousands of these flowers grow is the Pístecký Forest in Roudnice. It occurs naturally in floodplain forests and swamp meadows. It is also a popular decoration for gardens, but it is not advisable to transplant it from the wild. The Nature Conservation Act ranks it among endangered plant species, and a person can receive a fine of many thousands of crowns for destroying them. So watch your steps where you walk.
