UNDER THE CASTLE OF LORD KOŠŤÁL

Remains of castle Košťálov still stand on a high basalt rock above the village of Třebenice. It belongs to one of the dominants of the Bohemian Central Mountains. It was built on the trade route to Saxony and very little is known about its origin only from legends. One of the oldest legends says that Běla, Kazi´s daughter, had it built for her husband and named it after him. However, Běla and Košťál ended up as miserably as the castle itself. The castle had three floors, the 2nd floor collapsed and the ground floor, which was without windows, is completely covered. When you stand inside the castle today, you are actually standing on the 1st floor, where there are still door openings and small windows. Anyway, there are several ways to get here. The most beautiful is the red trail from Třebenice.
