ELTZ CASTLE | Filip Holič

ELTZ CASTLE

A little about the castle. It is a German medieval hilltop castle standing on a rock above the Elzbach River between the cities of Koblenz and Trier in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The castle was built at the beginning of the 12th century on the trade route between the Moselle River and the fertile Maifeld region. Eltz is one of the few castles on the left bank of the Rhine that has never been sacked. For more than 800 years, the castle has been owned by the lords and counts of Elz. We were lucky the first day we arrived. It had apparently rained in the area in the evening and fog was forming everywhere by morning. We were already at the castle, and the fog from above slowly started to flow down into the valley, until the castle almost completely disappeared. Take a look at the attached photos. It was a beautiful morning.
