THE SILVER BIRCH OF CHALUPSKÁ MOOR | Filip Holič

THE SILVER BIRCH OF CHALUPSKÁ MOOR

Of course, I am referring to the birch, which is said to be the most photographed in the Czech Republic and which grows on one of the many islands that gradually change their position over the years on the surface of the peat lake Chalupská moor. It lies in the shallow valley of Vydří creek at an altitude of 910 m, north of the village of Borová Lada. Around the largest peat lake in the Czech Republic, peat moss, spruces and scotch pine grow. A short covered walkway with an educational trail leads across the bog to the lake, on which floating islands are formed.
