The Jurassic Sea receded. All that was left was a flat sandy bottom. However, it did not resist time and broke. The water found its way in the cracks and excavated it significantly. This process gave rise to today´s gorges and ravines. Subsequently, wind and frost grinded the rocks into towers and gates. A mighty work has been accomplished. This is how the Edmund Gorge or the Silent Gorge was somehow created, in which is operated today one of the most visited attractions of the Czech Switzerland National Park, a boat ride with a ferryman´s explanation. After all, the visit of around 303,000 tourists speaks for itself. I couldn´t resist either. I´ve been here several times and it´s always different and yet similar. But this morning we set off here at nine o´clock for the first ride. My friend and I were here alone. The fog over the river, the sound of the waking forests around the gorge as the morning sun began to shine into them, and even the ferryman was silent and just listened. That was a wonderful morning!
